OLD BUT GOLD

       

 

For as long as I can remember, my dad has been a wood turner. “What is a woodturner” you may ask, a woodturner is someone who takes wood and puts it on a lathe. Then the lathe spins the piece of wood and, with a lot of time and practice, it becomes a beautiful piece of art.

 

        My dad also has a movie out called “Spiraling Into Control”. This movie provides you with a step-by-step process on how to create a wooden spiral piece similar to the one on the cover of the DVD. These DVD’s were sold on Amazon to places all over the world. Every day my dad would send out boxes and boxes of his movies to places all over the world.

 

        My dad inspires me because he is able to take an object, that most people may not find beauty in, and give it unique and amazing traits. This form of art has been around for a long time and it has only gotten better over time using new techniques and equipment.
